Join us for an event in partnership with World ORT: “Combatting the Mental Health Impact of War for Israeli Students” to learn from World ORT Kadima Mada Chief of Pedagogy Dr. Moshe Leiba as he shares the challenging journey of providing students in Israel with the tools they need to combat mental health impacts of living through October 7th and the subsequent war. Leiba will discuss the mental health challenges students face during these traumatic times and the innovative approaches World ORT Kadima Mada has taken to support students.
Speaker:
Dr. Moshe Leiba is Deputy Director General and Chief Pedagogical and R&D Officer of World ORT Kadima Mada (WOKM). In his capacity at World ORT Kadima Mada, Moshe is responsible for all educational and mental health activities in Israel, including affliated schools, 10 excellence centers throughout the country, Kfar Silver and leads several global ORT programs from conception to implementation. Catering to over 12,000 children, these programs integrate experiential learning in diverse curricular and extracurricular activities in the field of STEAM.
Moshe has experience as a policy maker in formal education systems at governmental and municipal levels and prior to joining WOKM, Moshe was the Director of the Education Authority and Chief Innovation Officer at Holon Municipality, a district ICT and Pedagogical Innovation superintendent at the Israeli Ministry of Education.
As an academic, Moshe is an assistant professor and heads the Gamification track at the faculty of information systems at the Academic college of Tel Aviv Yaffo. He was affiliated with Tel Aviv University, the Holon Institute of Technology, and Levinsky Teachers' College, and has participated as a researcher in several European educational research programs. Moshe’s research focuses on cognitive aspects of learning, 21st century skills, learning analytics, and the influence and use of information and communication technology in educational systems primarily in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) education.
Moshe holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a Teaching Certificate, a master’s degree in Technology, Mathematics and Science Education, and a doctorate in Educational Technology, all from Tel Aviv University.
